To use EMail, you need:
   •  a computer,
   •  a modem, and
   •  software to drive the modem.

     The computer can be anything from a lap held computer to a mainframe.

     The modem, which converts the message to an electrical signal that is transferred over telephone lines, can be built in the computer, or it can be attached to the computer.

     The software, which tells the computer how to drive the modem, usually comes with the modem.
